(UPDATE) MANILA, Philippines: All three rapid transit lines in Metro Manila announced on Tuesday that they would allow barefoot devotees participating in the Traslacion to board their trains during the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

The act of walking barefoot by devotees of the Black Nazarene is a panata or vow of sacrifice and is a symbolic gesture that emulates Christ's suffering as he carries his cross.
