(UPDATE) TOTAL number of fireworks-related injuries (FWRIs) in 2023 reached 609, or a 98 percent increase from the 307 in 2022, based on the final bulletin of the Department of Health (DoH).
From the start of the surveillance period from Dec. 21, 2023, until Jan. 6, 2024, the DoH's Online National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (Oneiss) recorded a total of 609 FWRIs compared to the 307 in 2022.
