2 intel officers killed in Lanao del Norte

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Two military intelligence officers were killed in an ambush carried out by six unidentified armed men believed to be members of the terrorist Daula Islamiyah-Maute group in the town of Munai, Lanao del Norte, a military report said on Thursday.

Maj. Darius Mark Mira, the spokesman of the army's 1st Infantry Division (1ID), identified the fatalities as SSgt. Raul Pabuaya and SSgt. Murphy de los Santos, who both sustained multiple gunshot wounds on the head. The third army soldier, identified as SSgt. Joenipher Etol was rescued by reinforcement troops.
