WHEN I watched "Gomburza" during its premiere night last Dec. 23, 2023, I really loved it. But I am a historian. My concern really was how it would be received by the general public. The many numbers of very positive reviews and the avalanche of support from the populace to screen the film in places where there were no cinemas showing it was nothing less than phenomenal. It was also judged as the second-best picture in the Metro Manila Film Festival from a crop of so many critically acclaimed films, and the one that got the most awards. With all these, I hope the young will see more of the priests Mariano Gomes, José Burgos and Jacinto Zamora beyond "Majoha."

Apparently, even if I am not part of the film, a lot of people took time to message me to sort of debrief me about what they felt about the film, which is a delight as I got to know what most people feel about it and their questions.
