(UPDATE) THE Department of Health (DoH) said on New Year's Day that based on a partial tally, the number of fireworks-related injuries (FWRIs) in 2023 is lower compared to the previous year's, despite the lifting of the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions.
From the start of the surveillance year (SY) on Dec. 21, 2023 to Jan. 1, 2024, there were 231 FWRIs compared to the 307 total cases reported in 2022.
