THE year that's about to end has been a pivotal one for Sara Duterte-Carpio as vice president and secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd). She has faced concerns, involving confidential and intelligence funds, and reforming the educational system.
The year 2023 began with the DepEd secretary giving her Basic Education Report in January, where she revealed the Education department's strategy in resolving the chronic lack of education infrastructure, flaws in DepEd's procurement system, lack of support for teachers and the learning poverty that students faced.
