People rally at Rockefeller Center hold a statue of a nativity scene under the rubble in support of Palestinians in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. The war was triggered by an unprecedented attack on Israel launched by Hamas on October 7 from the Gaza Strip killing about 1,140 people, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally based on official Israeli figures. Israeli strikes on Christmas day destroyed the Al-Maghazi refugee camp and killed at least 70 people.
