THE United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted a Philippine-sponsored resolution that focuses on water, sanitation, hygiene and power services in health care facilities.
The "Sustainable, safe and universal water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), waste and electricity services in health care facilities" suggested three main areas where action was needed: integration of WASH, waste and electricity services into health planning, programming, financing and monitoring at all levels; regular monitoring and reviewing of progress and strengthening of accountability; and developing and empowering the health workforce to deliver and maintain WASH, waste and electricity services, and practice good hygiene.
