THE Detroit Pistons are close to making history, a bad kind of history. After losing to the undermanned Utah Jazz recently, the Pistons have lost 25 straight games, nearing two ignominious NBA records.

If they lose their next game, they will tie for the longest single season losing streak in league history (26 losses), which is currently held by both the 2010-2011 Cleveland Cavaliers and the 2013-2014 Philadelphia 76ers. They are also two losses away from tying the latter for the longest losing streak (28 losses) in the stat books set by the 76ers spanning two seasons from 2014 to 2016. Three more losses and they would hold both records.
