Esteban gets first gold with new country

FOR the first time with her new country, Filipino Ivorian fencer Maxine Esteban has won an international championship.

During the final of the International Handel Cup European Under-23 Circuit Championship in Halle, Germany, on Sunday, Esteban defeated Luca Sarah Holland-Cunz of Germany, 15-13, to clinch the first gold of her career, wearing the flag of the Ivory Coast.
