Cardinal Thomas Aquino Manyo Maeda, archbishop of Osaka-Takamatsu, Japan led the procession that was also participated in by Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna. Takayama Ukon was a Japanese Catholic layman who was exiled to Manila after he refused to renounce his faith, according to a website that provided information on his life. He died in Intramuros shortly and soon after a petition for his beatification was presented to the Vatican by the Archdiocese of Manila.
