THE Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) recognized the outstanding efforts of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in alleviating the plight of the urban poor sector in coordination with the PCUP through the programs and services that the latter provides.

During the Urban Poor Solidarity Week (UPSW) culminating activity held on Dec. 7, 2023 at the Eastwood Richmonde Hotel in Quezon City, PCUP Chairman and CEO Undersecretary Elpidio Jordan Jr. presented the award to the two agencies which exemplified the qualities of being a 'Champion for the Urban Poor' — a recognition given by the PCUP for the first time.
