THE country's trade deficit widened in October as both exports and imports contracted anew, preliminary data from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed on Tuesday.

At $4.17 billion, the merchandise trade gap was higher than September's $3.58 billion. It was also higher compared to the year-earlier $3.31 billion.
