UFS leader calls out AMOR Seaman

THE leader of the United Filipino Seafarers (UFS), engineer Nelson Ramirez, has criticized AMOR Seaman on Facebook for its ties to Cecilio Ver Panambo, a prominent lawyer known for representing seafarer claims. AMOR Seaman has been notably active in recent policy debates on the Magna Carta for Seafarers, challenging key provisions more vigorously than many seafarer unions and employers.

Various labor groups, including the National Association of Trade Unions (NATU) and the Association of Marine Officers and Ratings (AMOR) Seaman, have opposed the escrow provision in the magna carta.
