MANILA, Philippines: Paranaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez has been elected as new president of the Philippine Tennis Association (PHILTA), the first time the local federation held such practice in three years since its suspension from its mother association, the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
Olivarez edged former Davis Cup team manager Jean Henri Lhuillier during the proceeding conducted by the 13-man board, which were initially elected as board representatives from their respective regions at the Century Park Sheraton in Manila.
