THE 2022 PISA result released recently shows Filipino students are "five to six years behind in mathematics, science and reading" compared to their 15-year-old counterparts from 81 countries.
While Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte acknowledges that the results revealed an "uncomfortable truth" and calls for collective action to help improve the learning outcomes of Filipino students, some Deped officials released a statement that the results also indicated that the country's education system was "resilient." We hope our country will not continue accepting the consolation of being "optimistic" in the last place!
