Easterlies bring warm, humid weather over Luzon, including Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines: The easterlies are bringing hot and humid weather over Luzon, including Metro Manila, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Thursday.

On one hand, the northeast monsoon locally known as 'amihan' is affecting Northern Luzon, particularly Batanes, Cagayan and Apayao where overcast skies with light rains may prevail, weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.
Amihan -- cold winds from the northeast that carry rains, especially over the eastern side of the country -- is also bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Ilocos Region, the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region and the rest of Cagayan Valley, the Pagasa 5 a.m. advisory said.
'It would still be generally fair weather in large parts of the country as we have not monitored any tropical cyclones inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the coming days,' Aurelio said.
The easterlies -- winds coming from the east, passing through the Pacific Ocean and carrying warm and humid weather -- are affecting Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
'But these areas may experience isolated downpour and thunderstorms especially in the afternoon or at night within the next 24 hours,' the Pagasa forecaster said.
