HOW much does the Filipino understand about this archipelago's maritime industry?

To many, maritime means the seafarers who are employed on ocean-going ships and are paid in dollars. But even to students who are enrolled in maritime programs and who dream of one day working onboard a ship, their understanding of the maritime industry appears to be confined to the opportunities that seafaring offers.
