IT was initially to do business and take care of my son's college graduation requirements that sent me over to Las Vegas this November. Of course, there was also the thought that I may be able to see how Las Vegas will be doing their first, in over four decades, Formula One Grand Prix.

The last time Las Vegas ran a Formula Grand Prix was in 1982 and it was a mere two-year run, 1981 and 1982. It was held at the parking lot and adjacent empty lot owned by Caesar's Palace. However, the political pushback from the racing community then did not bode well for Formula One and Bernie Ecclestone, who originally approved the Vegas grand prix had to pull it out of the calendar.
