The currency strengthened by a centavo to P55.39 versus the dollar, while the benchmark Philippine Stock Market index (PSEi) lost 44.43 points, or 0.7 percent, to end the day at 6,265.14.
The broader All Shares index also declined, by 0.57 percent, or 19.02 points, to 3,339.68.
