THE National Security Council (NSC) gave the go-signal to the planned civilian-led Christmas Convoy to the West Philippine Sea with the agreement that participating vessels would not proceed to the BRP Sierra Madre in Ayungin (Second Thomas) Shoal for security reasons.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the NSC said the convoy would only pass through the general vicinity of the Ayungin Shoal on its way to other Philippine-occupied features to bring Christmas cheer to the troops assigned to those areas.
