THE stock market returned to the 6,300 level, but the peso weakened slightly at the start of a shortened trading week.

The currency dipped by two centavos to P55.40 against the dollar, while the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) added 40.07 points, or 0.64 percent, to end the day at 6,309.57. It was the PSEi's highest close in nearly two months.
