MANILA, Philippines: Fewer precincts and much longer voters' queques are to be expected in the 2025 midterm polls following a P17.34 cut in the Commission on Elections (Comelec) original funding request for 2024.

Comelec has originally asked for P44.77 billion under the National Expenditure Program but but the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) trimmed it to P27.34 billion "Because of the reduced budget, we have no choice but to reduce the number of precincts:" said Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia in a forum.
