THE chairman of the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs lauded the passage of a bill that would penalize jail guards, wardens and custodial officers who sneak in mobile phones, illegal drugs, guns, knives and other contraband inside detention facilities in the country.
Surigao del Norte 2nd District Rep. Robert Ace Barbers said House Bill (HB) 6126, or the "Contraband Detection and Control System Act," will mandate all prison and detention facilities to implement extensive contraband interdiction procedures through the employment of modern detection devices, units, and technologies to cut the flow of prohibited objects inside all penal institutions.
