Net interest margins seen declining in 2024

NET interest margins (NIMs) for Philippine banks are likely to fall given expectations of rate cuts in the second half of next year, Fitch Ratings said.

In a November 22 note, the debt watcher noted that NIMs in most Asean emerging markets would be propped up by 'higher for longer' interest rates, helping sustain bank profitability.
