THE Philippines last week joined the board of a climate and disaster risk initiative established by the Group of Seven and Vulnerable 20 Group, the Finance department announced on Wednesday.

The Global Shield Against Climate Risk program, established in November last year via an alliance between industrialized economies and those particularly vulnerable to climate change, aims to provide much-needed financing to mitigate the impact of extreme weather events.
