Azkals fall in World Cup qualifiers opener

(UPDATE) MANILA, Philippines: THE Philippine Azkals fell to a 0-2 loss at the hands of Vietnam in its FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup 2027 Preliminary Joint Qualifiers opening match at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Thursday, November 16.

Drawing energy from the home crowd of 10,378 fans, world No. 144 Philippines played competitively, especially in the second half but ultimately fell to No. 94 Vietnam.
