Family, friends of dedicated surgeon who died in prison take on his case

The following is the statement of the family of Dr. Benigno 'Iggy' Agbayani Jr. on his death and the case that led to his imprisonment.

DR. Benigno "Iggy" Agbayani Jr. passed away due to cardiac arrest on Oct. 5, 2023, while serving time at the Manila City Jail (MCJ). At the time of his passing, he was planning a fourth medical mission to the MCJ, scheduled for October 15. This mission was expected to be the biggest one yet, with 26 doctors and 28 nonmedical volunteers, all committed to providing medical care, medicines and food to 800 persons deprived of liberty.
