THERE are at least six contenders for Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr., who will relinquish the post when he retires next month, said.

Acorda, who was given a testimonial parade by the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) in Baguio City last Saturday, said he has a list of potential candidates he wanted to submit to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who will ultimately decide who will be the next head of the 228,000-strong police force.
