THE provincial government of Eastern Samar said that it will petition for the closure of six mining companies operating in the province that do not comply with environmental and social protection laws.
In a press conference on Tuesday, November 7, the provincial government urged the companies to comply until the end of 2023, and that failure to do so within the time frame will risk the cancellation of their Mineral Production Sharing Agreements (MPSAs) to operate in the province.
