THE Department of Transportation (DoTr) on Monday said it plans to terminate two railway contracts after China failed to act on the funding requests by the Philippine government.
Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said the country has two existing contracts for the two railway projects with Chinese companies — the P142-billion contract with the joint venture of China Railway Group Ltd., China Railway No. 3 Engineering Group Co. Ltd. and China Railway Engineering Consulting Group Co. Ltd. to build the first 380 kilometers of the Philippine National Railway Bicol (PNR Bicol) Project from Banlic, Calamba, to Daraga, Albay, and the P51-billion Subic-Clark Railway project awarded to China Harbour Engineering Co.
