THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) has extended the filing of candidacy (CoC) for upcoming special elections in the third congressional district of Negros Oriental, which was declared vacant after the House of Representatives unseated fugitive lawmaker Arnolfo "Arnie" Teves.

Teves was tagged as the brain behind the murder of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo last March. He has been charged with multiple murders, among other cases, but his whereabouts have remained unknown.
