UN rights chief lambasts surge in religious hatred

GENEVA, Switzerland: The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on Saturday strongly denounced the 'sharp rise in hatred globally' since the war between Israel and Hamas began on October 7.

In a statement, Volker Turk said he was 'disgusted' by the surge in cases of antisemitism, Islamophobia and other hate speech, both online and offline.
