THE Department of Education (DepEd) on Saturday welcomed the Commission on Elections' (Comelec) move not to pursue the filing of criminal charges against teachers who were unable to serve in the October 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (BSK) elections.
At a press conference on Friday, Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia said the commission would instead file charges against those who harassed the teachers, discouraging them from serving at the polls.
