THE Phi Kappa Mu Fraternity, in a public statement, implored that a review be undertaken of the case of Dr. Benigno Agbayani Jr. and "take into account the substantial lapses in due process, misapplication of rules and inconsistent judgments." Their "call to justice seeks not only a fair reevaluation of the case but also recognition of the toll it took on an honorable practitioner of medicine." The fraternity added, "May his legacy inspire reforms that prevent such injustices in the future, preserving the nobility of the medical profession."

Dr. Agabayani was a member of Phi Kappa Mu, having obtained his medical degree from the University of the Philippines Manila in 1991. He died on Oct. 5, 2023, from a massive heart attack while incarcerated at the Manila City Jail.
