PH, Japan work on Reciprocal Access Agreement to boost defense cooperation

MANILA, Philippines: The Philippines and Japan have agreed to start negotiations for the proposed Reciprocal Access Agreement (RAA) to come up with a visiting forces deal to bolster the two countries' defense cooperation amid China's expanding military presence in the region.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assured Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida that the Philippines would work on the realization of an RAA between the two countries to strengthen security ties and facilitate joint defense drills.
