A NEW research study published this week has dire conclusions for the world's fight to keep global warming in check: it will be virtually impossible to meet the ideal goal set forth by the 2015 Paris Agreement to limit warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius over the pre-Industrial Age average temperature, and that the dreaded threshold will likely be exceeded within the next six years. While the study in question does try to offer a ray of hope, we believe the implications of its findings call for a serious reconsideration of the messaging on climate response and the objectives the country and the world at large should be trying to achieve.
