MANILA, Philippines: There is no overtime pay or additional compensation for public school teachers who served as members of the Electoral Board (EB) in the just concluded Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) even if they worked more than 24 hours because of delays and other incidents, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia said on Thursday that while the Commission recognized the difficulties undergone by the teachers in the performance of their duties, they could not give overtime pay because of legal impediments.
