A FELLOW "recovered politician" and I were discussing the barangay election. I told him that when I was a kid growing up in a depressed community, not many were interested in becoming barrio captains (now barangay chairpersons). Violence among candidates was unheard of. It was an office not worth dying or killing for.
Times have really changed.
