The city and the university: A symbiotic relationship

NONSCHOLAE SEDVITAE

FOR the past few weeks, the online presence of universities, which comes in the form of pubmats promoting conferences and seminars on the progressive relationships between cities and universities, was deeply felt. Almost every other day, publicity materials on the topic are advertised on social media. This sends the message that this could be an urgent concern and an intense strategic direction for change.

With the current era exemplified by meaningful collaborations and linkages, the academe needs to descend from its ivory tower and level up its commitment to become a major force in the progress of the city or municipality where it is located. Moreover, it is about time the city government tap institutions of higher learning to reinforce its scientific and cultural resources for development.
