NEW DELHI: Five suspected rebels were killed Thursday in a gun battle with soldiers in Indian-administered Kashmir, the army said, with reports later of gunfire across the border with Pakistan.

India's Border Security Force (BSF) reported an exchange of gunfire, accusing Pakistani troops of starting "unprovoked firing" which was "befittingly retaliated."
