Thai ex-PM Thaksin undergoes second surgery

BANGKOK: Thailand's jailed former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has undergone orthopedic surgery, prison officials said, his second operation in the last few weeks.

The 74-year-old billionaire, ousted as premier in a 2006 coup, returned to Thailand after 15 years of self-exile in August and was immediately jailed on old charges of graft and abuse of power.
