WASHINGTON, D.C.: Republicans abruptly dropped Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio as their nominee for United States House of Representatives speaker on Friday during a closed-door session after the hard-edged ally of former president Donald Trump failed badly to win the gavel on a third ballot.
