I hit a brick wall. Most of my time this week was spent doom scrolling and researching on the Israel-Hamas war. I've been listening to podcasts (usually just my go-to's for current events — "The Daily" and "Today Explained") and reading different thought pieces. All the while thinking about the innocents and the ordeals they continue to face.

What was there to numb or distract? People have been talking about Netflix's "The Fall of the House of Usher." I love Edgar Allan Poe but I felt this was way more Mike Flanagan ("The Haunting of Hill House," "Midnight Mass," "The Haunting of Bly Manor") than Poe. It's like "Succession" meets "Seven" with Edgar Allan Poe story Easter Eggs.
