FILIPINOS have been known to harbor the spirit of nationalism, as exhibited in the 'Cry of Pugad Lawin' in August 1896, the first known act of rebellion against Spanish imperialism, to the celebration of National Heroes Day, or 'Araw ng mg Bayani,' every August 28, a day dedicated to remembering the first cry of the revolution and Filipinos who fought valiantly for the nation's freedom and independence.

However, as the nation grapples with myriad issues, it is natural for people to feel the temptation of falling into despair and giving up. This was precisely the course of action that unfolded then and even now. The mindset of wanting to leave the country prevails among the present generation.
