Salceda to file bill vs illicit tobacco trade

In a multisectoral discussion on fighting illicit tobacco trade held on Tuesday in Manila, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman and Albay 2nd District Rep. Jose Maria Clemente 'Joey' Salceda said that the country is facing a cigarette excise tax collection problem, and this could be due to the illicit trade of cigarettes in the country.

From a P173.9-billion revenue collected in 2021, revenue collection for 2022 declined to P160.4 billion, a decrease of P13.5 billion.
