The UP-UST match in UAAP Season 86 saw the Fighting Maroons reach their 5th straight win by breaking the highest scoring mark of the young season. They top the standings at 5-0, while UST stays alone at the cellar with a 0-5 mark.
For someone who spent his entire college life watching UST lord it over the basketball world, sweeping the whole league in the 1993 season, this is a full 180 degree turn. UP has gone south since the 90s, peaking in 1996 behind Paolo Mendoza and the late Bryan Gahol. They even had two winless seasons, and they celebrated with a bonfire after breaking that infamous streak.
