SBU downs JRU, gains share of 3rd

SAN Beda University (SBU) bucked the absence of its coach Yuri Escueta as it survived a feisty Jose Rizal University (JRU), 74-70, on Saturday and reclaimed a piece of the third spot in NCAA Season 99 at the Filoil EcoOil Arena in San Juan City.

Jacob Cortez unleashed a game-high 24 points including the go-ahead basket with 53 seconds to go that handed the Lions their fourth win in six outings, which was good for joint No. 3 with the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals.
