THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Field Office 4-A (Calabarzon Region), is still providing support to the family of Francis Jay Gumikib, a Grade 5 student who died a few days after allegedly being slapped by his teacher in Antipolo City.
DSWD FO-4A Regional Director Barry Chua reported to DSWD Secretary Rexlon "Rex" Gatchalian that the Gumikib family also received a guarantee letter from DSWD for P50,000 as a form of funeral assistance from the department, in addition to the P10,000 financial aid for the deceased student's medical bills.
