Agriculture sector readies for El Niño's impact

SINCE the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) announced the onset of the El Niño phenomenon in July, the government has started preparing for its possible impacts, especially on the agriculture sector.

The Department of Agriculture (DA), in particular, said it had readied various interventions for farmers to safeguard their crops, particularly rice.
